If Rory McIlroy has any hope of becoming World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler in the Official World Golf Ranking, he needs to start piling up the PGA Tour wins.
And this week offers just that opportunity for World No. 2 and five-time major league champions. McIlroy makes his second tour debut of the season at this week’s Genesis Invitational. And like the tournament he played in last week, the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, Genesis is a Signature Series with a $20 million purse.
Genesis is played on the golf course (Riviera) and has a famous presenter in the form of Tiger Woods, who spoke to the media on Tuesday. That’s exactly the type of tournament that McIlroy said he wants to win as his career moves forward.
And the action begins Thursday with the opening round in LA
