How to watch The Players Championship on Friday

A brutal opening day at TPC Sawgrass saw many rollercoaster rounds. It left World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler milling about in the pouring rain after completing a 72nd round. And it left Rory McIlroy, who has a back injury, to fight for the cut on Friday after shooting 74.

The same can be said for Jordan Spieth, who will be eyeing the cut line in Round 2 after making a double bogey on 18 to end his first round at one over.

But not all players struggled on Day 1. Five players are tied for the lead at five under, including Sahith Theegala. Austin Smotherman has a birdie putt on his final hole to get to 16 under, but he will sleep on it and finish his round on Friday morning before the second round begins.

Two-time major champion Justin Thomas bounced back from a bad cut last week to shoot a 68 on Thursday. He will start Friday’s second round with a one-shot lead.
