Free Activity For Each Group So Far

The New Year serves as a symbolic part of the offseason. It’s been just two months since the Dodgers returned to Toronto to repeat as World Series champions. There are exactly six weeks left until pitchers and catchers begin reporting to Spring Training.
28 of MLBTR’s top 50 free agents are off the board, though many marquee names remain. Seven of the top ten are signed. We are less than two days away from free agent draft #7 Tatsuya Imaihis posting window closes on Friday afternoon. The overall volume of free agent activity is similar to last season, when 26 of our top 50 players were off the board on New Year’s Eve. However, most of last winter’s first jobs were concentrated at the top of the market, as our top six free agents were signed before the December deadline. Dylan Cease again Munetaka Murakami they are the only two of the top eight that have signed so far this offseason.
Using MLBTR’s Contract Tracker (a tool available to Front Office subscribers), we can find each team’s free trade so far. Players who accept a qualifying offer of $22.025MM are considered free agent signings. Four contracts negotiated between the end of the regular season and November 6 – Guardian deal Austin HedgesBaltimore’s signing of Dietrich Ennsthe Royals faced it Salvador Perezand the Cubs contract Colin Rea – they are not included. All of these come before those players are allowed to talk to other teams and are therefore extensions rather than free agents.
As always, this is the case not it meant a comprehensive look at the team’s offseason activity. Royals (Michael Garcia) and athletics (Tyler Soderstrom) each signed a significant contract extension. The Red Sox are one of two teams that have yet to sign an MLB free agent contract, but would take on nearly $40MM in 2026 in salary via a trade. Sonny Gray, Wilson Contreras again Johan Oviedo. This is a good look at what teams have done so far with the free program.
