ME AND MY TOUR: SARAH STIRK – Golf News

There are so many, I love Harbor Town on Hilton Head Island, playing the 18th with the famous lighthouse, I can’t forget it, and it’s the most played golf course without the advanced players.
Quinta do Logo is my favorite golf course, I have a property there, I have spent a lot of time there in the last 20 years, I love Portugal the way of life, the beaches, and the people.
Old Head in Ireland also needs to be mentioned, you can see the sea from every hole and it’s an experience like no other.
Who would be the perfect golfing partners for your vacation?
Rory Mcllroy, I’ve known him for years and I’d be great to play with, Taylor Swift, because she’s amazing, funny, and smart about what she’s doing for women and it’s very empowering, and finally Michael McIntyre because he’d be fun to play with, I think the four of us together would have a great crack.

Where did you go on your last vacation
The Algarve, I often go on short vacations, now I have a family obligation, my plan is to retire there.
Best memory in golf
By playing Augusta National, the day after the 2023 Masters, they have a media vote, Sky Sports owns the rights, we get one golden ticket a year to play the course on Monday, my boss gave me an invitation in an envelope on Sunday as we go to work.
It was fun playing with all the scoreboards up, going down and up from 100 yards on the 18th for Par was the highlight of my round, it was an amazing experience and I shot a 96 which I was very happy with using borrowed clubs.
Besides playing Augusta, other fond memories include shooting a 74 at Ruddington Grange Golf Club in Nottingham.

What is your favorite golf course in the UK
That would be the Queens Course at Gleneagles, my uncle had a flat near where I was going to visit and when I was at university, I did a summer term there⦠and as a member of staff we got to play courses in the evening rounds, so the Queens Course is where I learned to play the game and it’s one of the best courses in the UK.
I also talk about Sunningdale Old.

What is the best hotel you have ever stayed at
Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi, I have a private bathroom, the rooms are soundproofed, so you couldn’t hear the noise from outside, everything about the hotel was different.
It was for a work-based event at the invitation of Gary Player.
What is your favorite city in the world
That would have to be New York, I love the vibe and the energy, I think it feels more intimate than London, I stayed with family and friends on Long Island and I went to New York for a day, that was my first proper time traveling alone.
I love The High Line, which is an elevated railway line that has been turned into a public park. I was there before and after 9/11 and saw both the Twin Towers and Ground Zero. The whole city has many cool places.
Hosting the Nike event with Rory and Tiger was also memorable, it was at night at Liberty National GC and seeing Manhattan lit up in the distance will live long in the memory.

A very memorable meal
Heston Blumenthal’s The Fat Duck in Bray, it was a little bit for me but very memorable, the whole meal was pure theatre, taking the lids of the glass bowls and seeing the smoke rise and putting on headphones while you ate, hearing the chatter and laughter, the waves crashing and the seagulls crying while you ate the seafood.
My favorite course was the chocolate fondant, which was pure heaven. I would go back there for this dessert alone.

My go-to tip
Is traveling light, I’m also terrible at packing, I used to only use a third of the clothes I took on a trip, now I only use a suitcase, but it took me years to realize this.
Remember that you can also pick up shampoo and toiletries when you get to your destination.
