Crystal Palace are pushing to secure Dean Henderson’s future

Crystal Palace are reportedly working hard to secure the long-term future of goalkeeper Dean Henderson, with the club identifying the England international as a key figure in their ongoing project.

According to former scout Mick Brown, the Eagles are determined to tie Henderson to a new contract as they look to protect the “core” of their team amid interest in their top talent.

Since establishing himself as the number one at Selhurst Park, Henderson has enjoyed a return to form, becoming one of the Premier League’s most consistent goalscorers.

With the club determined to avoid the exodus of key players, keeping the 28-year-old has become a priority for the management.

Crystal Palace are hoping to extend Dean Henderson’s contract

Mick Brown has revealed that Crystal Palace are keen to reward Henderson’s performance and ensure stability at the back.

The club are reportedly wary of losing key personnel and view Henderson’s extension as vital to maintaining their competitive edge.

The news will encourage fans, especially given reports that Henderson is based in South London.

Speaking to Football Insider, Brown said: “Crystal Palace want to keep Henderson.

“He’s been an important part of what they’re doing there, and it goes back to what I said before about Palace wanting to keep their top players.

“They’re working hard to keep that core of the team together, because they’re worried about losing a few key players, and he’s a big part of that.

“He made two blinding saves in the match against Tottenham, and another against Fulham.

“Henderson has come in as a goalkeeper since he left Man United and joined Palace, he has improved his game a lot and he has become a great thing.

“Not only at Palace but also in England, his form can be very good.

“From what I hear, he’s very happy at Palace and the success he’s had there, so I think keeping him on a new contract is something they’ll push to do.”
