Man United’s inquiry was rejected by Italian manager Simone Inzaghi

Manchester United’s search for a new coach has taken another turn, and reports say that Manchester United has made an inquiry about Simone Inzaghi following the dismissal of Ruben Amorim, which was rejected.

According to journalist Nicolò Schira, the highly respected coach has decided to stay at Al-Hilal, choosing to continue his work in Saudi Arabia rather than return to European football at the moment.

Man United’s interest in Inzaghi shows the extent of their desire as they look to rebuild after Amorim’s troubles.

The Red Devils are exploring the market for a new coach, looking for someone who can bring back structure, consistency, and ownership to Old Trafford.

Simone Inzaghi is not interested in the Man United job

Although the discussions surrounding Inzaghi have never progressed beyond initial inquiries, his decision not to stay has forced United to reassess their shortlist.

In the short term, former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær is expected to return on a temporary basis, providing stability and familiarity while the club takes time to identify the right long-term appointment.

However, United’s management is clear that a permanent manager is likely to be appointed at the end of the season, once a thorough evaluation of the candidates has been completed.

Inzaghi’s appeal is easy to understand. He is widely respected around the world for his brilliance and continued success in Serie A.

During his time with Lazio and Inter Milan, the Italian won many domestic trophies, including the Coppa Italia victory, three consecutive Supercoppa Italiana titles with Inter, and the Serie A championship.

He also guided Inter to two UEFA Champions League finals, cementing his reputation as one of Europe’s greatest tacticians.

His spell at Inter, in particular, made him almost a legend at the club before he opted for a new challenge by moving to Al-Hilal in 2025.

With strong support, significant resources, and a competitive project in Saudi Arabia, Inzaghi has clearly decided that now is not the right time to leave.

Because of this, Man United must now focus on other goals. Among those being considered is Oliver Glasner, who impressed with his work at Crystal Palace.

The pressure on United’s decision-makers is enormous. Having endured difficult times under Amorim and his predecessor Erik ten Hag, the club knows the cost of another mistake.

More than a decade since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013, the Premier League giants are still searching for the right man to restore their former power.
