Nelly Korda slams TGL for women’s league: ‘Huge miss’

The 2026 LPGA season begins this week with the Tournament of Champions, and Nelly Korda is gearing up for another run at No. 1 this year. But it’s Korda’s thoughts on another women’s golf league, WTGL, that are making headlines this week.

Commenting on Golfweek’s Beth Ann Nichols, Korda expressed her “mixed feelings” about the new women’s version of the TGL and strongly criticized the TGL’s decision to create a separate women’s league.

Korda slams TGL for leaving out LPGA golfers

In early January, TMRW Sports, the company founded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy through TGL, announced the formation of TGL’s new women’s only league, WTGL.

WTGL will feature LPGA Tour stars playing the golf simulator TGL debuted last year at the SoFi Center in Florida. TMRW Sports, the LPGA and many others have announced the inclusion of women golfers.

But Korda offered the opposite view this week. The former World No. 1 main and WTGL news includes exclusion of women.

In an interview with Nichols as he prepared for the LPGA season, Korda described the decision to create WTGL, instead of adding LPGA pros to the existing TGL, as “a huge and unbelievable miss.”

“I have mixed feelings to be honest, and I’m surprised no other girls have done it, or no one has talked about it,” Korda told Nichols this week. “I think it’s a big miss and it’s unbelievable that we don’t play around men.”

He went on to say that men and women competing together would be “revolutionary” in terms of the growth of golf.

“There is no other way to grow this game, and it would be revolutionary. It would be the first time, I think, that men and women are in the same playing field, playing for exactly the same money,” said Korda.

But Korda was quick to explain that while she wishes women were included in the TGL, the creation of the WTGL is still a positive development for women’s golf.

“I also think it’s nice that we get this opportunity, so my feelings are mixed,” said Korda. “So, I don’t think there’s anything wrong, I think it would be even better to have the two of them together.”

WTGL’s original cast announced, Nelly Korda is missing

On January 19, TMRW Sports announced the first wave of LPGA stars committed to the inaugural WTGL season, scheduled for the winter of 2026-27.

The first announcement included six players World No. 1 Jeeno Thitikulwho took Korda’s top spot in the world rankings in 2025. LPGA veteran and retired champion Lexi Thompson it was also revealed as a competitor to WTGL, as it was Lydia Ko, Charlie Hull again Brooke Henderson. But Korda, the world’s most famous women’s golfer, was not among them.

This week, the LPGA stars are young Rose Zhang again Lottie Woadboth winners of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, also joined WTGL. But still no Korda.

Nichols asked Korda about his thoughts on playing WTGL, and while Korda didn’t commit to joining, he said he was considering it.

“I’m still considering the time commitment. I haven’t thought too much about it yet, because I’ve been focused on trying to prepare for this season. I think systemically, they’re still trying to figure out some things, so I’ll weigh my options soon,” Korda said.
