Arsenal’s XI next season could be much better than the one that topped the Premier League and Champions League this season.

As we move past January and look ahead to the summer transfer window, the Gunners are being linked with exciting names such as Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez and Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali.

This is already Arsenal’s strongest team, but they could do with improving Viktor Gyokeres up front after his disappointing first season at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal have already begun to assess Atletico’s desire to transfer Alvarez, who could be ready to play up front for Mikel Arteta’s side.

According to ESPN, Arsenal are looking to sign Alvarez, and if they can pull off that deal he will surely be the first choice for Gyokeres.

The Argentinian is another player who is not at his best at the moment, having scored just one goal in his last thirteen games.

However, there is a good chance to see Alvarez bounce back after a strong record of 40 goals in 88 games for Atletico, while he excelled with 36 goals in two seasons as a club player at Manchester City.

How can Sandro Tonali fit into Arsenal?

Recently linked with Arsenal by Athletic, Newcastle midfielder Tonali is a top player in the Premier League, although it is unclear how he would fit into Arteta’s squad.

One has to assume that Declan Rice is not losing his place anytime soon, so could Tonali be seen as an upgrade for Martin Zubimendi?

That seems harsh on the Spain international, who has been one of the best in the AFC this term, but has also made a few high-profile mistakes.

This is likely due to the fatigue of starting multiple games, so the addition of Tonali would allow for more rotation.

Arsenal’s possible 2026/27 XI in full

Here is our possible Arsenal XI for next season, with Alvarez up front and Tonali in midfield, with Nathaniel Brown at left back.

Our information is that Brown is being targeted by Arsenal after impressing at Eintracht Frankfurt, so there’s probably a good chance that Piero Hincapie’s loan spell won’t be made permanent, while Riccardo Calafiori’s record could mean he’s been relegated to back-up.

This is a strong looking Arsenal team, and if they can keep other big names like Eberechi Eze, Martin Odegaard and Noni Madueke as rotation options, they will be in a good position to challenge all four again as they are.
