NHL news: Different penalty for Senators, and injury updates

The NHL is changing their penalty for the Ottawa Senators
NHL PR: The NHL decided to change its punishment to the Ottawa Senators and gave them the 32nd pick in the 2026 draft. The Senators were initially stripped of their 2024, 2025 or 2026 first-round picks for their role in the Evgenii Dadonov trade by not providing information on Dadonov’s no-trade list. The Senators were also fined 1 million CDNs.
Trading back in 2022 is done under different ownership and management.
The first building of the Senators will be confiscated. If they miss the playoffs and win the draft lottery, there will be a rematch.
NHL Rumors: Seasoned Players Cost Confirmation, and Montreal Canadiens Need to Gamble
TSN: Chris Johnston said the ‘new’ owner Michael Andlauer was vocal at first, but kept quiet and didn’t go public about it.
“I think the fact that he was able to deal with this behind the scenes led to the NHL coming to see things his way, which is that A) he wasn’t the owner of the team when this happened, and B) it wasn’t the current management that was there when this all happened.”
