Shocking missed hands Bryson DeChambeau LIV playoff win: ‘Hated it’

On Sunday at the 2026 LIV Golf Singapore event, Bryson DeChambeau ended his winless drought with a comeback victory. But not without a little help from his playoff opponent.
That player, LIV Golf wild card Richard T. Lee, shockingly missed a short putt that would have extended the playoff to another hole.
A brutal finish left DeChambeau with mixed emotions as he lifted his fourth LIV Golf trophy on Sunday at Sentosa Golf Club.
DeChambeau’s win for LIV Singapore started with a comeback charge
DeChambeau’s last LIV win was in May of last year, when he won LIV Golf Korea with a three-round 19-under par. That ended LIV’s two-time US Open champion’s longest winless streak, dating back to September 2023.
This week’s event looked like Bryson’s lost from the start. He led after the first and second laps. But four bogeys on Day 3 gave DeChambeau a 72. With that he lost the lead and headed into Sunday’s final round one shot behind Joaquin Niemann and Lee Westwood.

DeChambeau came out firing on Sunday, battling for an eagle on the 4th hole and adding two more birdies before play was suspended due to inclement weather. Despite his hot start, which took him to 12 under, DeChambeau found himself in the lead at the halfway mark, two shots behind Niemann.
But Niemann made three bogeys coming home, and DeChambeau made two more birdies, including one on the 18th hole, to move past him and to 14 under.
One problem: Lee had birdied four of the last six holes, including the last, to tie DeChambeau at 14 under. That forced a sudden-death play-by-play.
And the playoffs couldn’t have started worse for Bryson. He washed his shot on the par-5 18th, quickly putting his victory beyond doubt.
Lee, on the other hand, slowly stopped a 10-foot birdie putt. Amazingly, DeChambeau was able to get up-and-down after losing his drive in the water, giving him a par despite the penalty.
If Lee had caught his birdie in the middle of the range, he would have won. A textbook two-putt can extend a playoff to another hole. Then disaster struck.
Lee’s first attempt missed the hole by 2-3 feet. His follower dived straight into the hole and then came out.
TV cameras shot at DeChambeau. He had just won his fourth LIV Golf title, but all he could do was put his hands behind his head and show shock at what had just happened.
Bryson’s ‘incredible relief’ after the playoffs ends with a win
After his round, DeChambeau expressed his mixed feelings about the win due to the sad ending of his competition Lee, who earned his spot in LIV through LIV Promotions, as did Anthony Kim.
“He really hated Richard [T. Lee]. He was playing unbelievable golf. He’s beaten me in the few rounds I’ve played against him, and he’s a great player,” DeChambeau said Sunday afternoon. As much as winning is a good thing, I have a lot of respect for Richard and the way he plays golf where he is.”
The LIV superstar then heaped praise on Lee, admitting that as he went down he thought his victory was secured. Lee’s late charge changed that in a big way.

“It was really exciting; I was going down the last three holes, like, I think I was ahead of everybody, and seeing Richard go and play the way he finished, he’s a real star, and the league should be proud to have him as a wild card,” DeChambeau said of Lee.
Bryson allowed himself to enter his plans in his moment of triumph.
“It was a big deal for me, especially with the wet conditions and the thick blades and I was struggling with my wedges,” DeChambeau said. “But making it happen was so memorable and — even hitting it in the water on the last playoff hole, G-Bo’s like, ‘Bryson, just go get it, that’s all you can do.’ We went and did that.”
When asked if he felt “relieved” after receiving the title, DeChambeau answered honestly. He also acknowledged that his victory at LIV Singapore represented his first win in a four-round tournament since his 2024 US Open win at Pinehurst No.
“Oh, what a relief,” DeChambeau admitted. “I haven’t won four rounds since the US Open 2024. To be able to enter a golf course like this that is brutal and requires precision on every shot, especially with the conditions changing, I couldn’t be happier for my team.”
DeChambeau’s next stop is LIV Golf South Africa, which starts next week. After that, the next tournament circled on Bryson’s schedule is the 2026 Masters at Augusta National.
