Could Arsenal or Liverpool go all the way

Arsenal and Liverpool are the only Premier League clubs to have reached the quarterfinals of the Champions League this season.

The Gunners will face Sporting Lisbon in their next game on April 7, with the game returning to the Emirates Stadium eight days later on April 15.

Liverpool have been drawn on the other side of the bracket as they will face European champions Paris Saint-Germain.

If the Reds get past PSG they will face Real Madrid or Bayern Munich, while Arsenal’s success against Sporting will set them up for a semi-final against Barcelona or Atletico Madrid.

So, in theory, we’re looking at an Arsenal vs Liverpool final, but how likely is that?

Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich

Arsenal are one of the best teams in Europe this season and were undoubtedly unlucky when they were beaten by eventual Champions League semi-finalists PSG last season.

Mikel Arteta’s side will now be heavy favorites to beat Sporting, but Liverpool have had a difficult season and face a tough tie, with PSG certainly favorites to progress to the semis as well.

Here is our best attempt to predict the outcome of this Champions League quarter-finals…

Arsenal will beat Sporting

As long as Arsenal don’t neglect themselves or deal with an injury problem, this is certainly the best deal the north Londoners have been waiting for. They beat Sporting 5-1 away in the league stage of the competition last season, and it should be great for them again here.

Prediction: Arsenal will go through.

Barcelona should get past Atletico

These games could go either way, but Barcelona look like the real deal right now after the way they dismantled Newcastle. Of course, Atletico did a good job in the first leg victory over Spurs, but they were somewhat unsatisfying in the second leg against a much weaker team.

Prediction: Barcelona to pass.

PSG is too strong for Liverpool

Liverpool bounced back against Galatasaray, winning their second leg 4-0 after a dramatic 1-0 away defeat. Perhaps Arne Slot’s men will find that extra level in Europe after a disappointing domestic campaign, but the truth is that they are somewhat behind in the changes to their squad this season. PSG beat them last term and they are good enough to do it again.

Prediction: PSG to pass.

Bayern will face Real

Vincent Kompany’s Bayern Munich have been outstanding this season and are probably the best team in Europe along with Arsenal. Harry Kane is on fire, Michael Olise has stepped up his game, and they are well put together in every department. Although it is unwise to bet against Real Madrid in this competition, they have not been at their best this season, so we can see Bayern close to a draw.

Prediction: Bayern will pass.

Will we see the winner of the Premier League in the Champions League?

All other English clubs, Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham and Newcastle, are out of the Champions League this week.

We currently predict Liverpool to go out of the next round of the competition, but Arsenal should reach the semi-finals for the second year in a row.

However, in addition, the tough schedule of the Premier League and tough opponents every week make it difficult for English teams in Europe.

We’ve seen that made abundantly clear by Chelsea and Newcastle in particular, as both quickly fell apart in the latter stages of their away games against PSG and Barcelona.

PSG in particular have a real edge in that Ligue 1 doesn’t actually have those fixtures, meaning Luis Enrique can rest players at home to keep them in top form for their European fixtures.

So, if you want to make an early prediction for the final, don’t be too surprised if it’s Barcelona against PSG or Bayern.
