Chelsea are known to change managers often, having already gone through Graham Potter, Mauricio Pochettino, and Enzo Maresca as permanent positions under this ownership.
Rosenior has not had a convincing start since taking over from Maresca back in January, and Romano admits the 41-year-old has a job to do at Stamford Bridge, just like any manager.
But he appears to be in no immediate danger, with Romano admitting that it is difficult to take on a job as big as Chelsea without the benefit of a full pre-season to prepare.
Fabrizio Romano on Liam Rosenior’s Chelsea future
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano responded to uncertainty about Rosenior following Chelsea’s Champions League exit at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain.
He said: “Obviously it was disappointing to see Chelsea go out like that in the Champions League. Paris Saint-Germain scored eight goals when combined with Chelsea in the Champions League. (It was) especially Stanford Bridge one bad performance and obviously a lot of people (are) asking and trying to understand the situation around Liam Rosenior.
“But at the moment despite all the questions I get the answer I have is that Chelsea keep believing in their manager. Obviously we all know that this industry is based on results. So let’s see how it will continue in the coming months, but for now Chelsea is showing full commitment to the project they started with Rosenior.
“He arrived in January and it’s not the same when you arrive during the preparation of the season and you start making the market with the coach’s ideas.”
He added: “So the idea is to support Rosenior, to trust Rosenior. Then, he has to do his job like every single coach in the world. That’s the point.”
Is Liam Rosenior the right Chelsea manager?
Rosenior impressed in Strasbourg, so his appointment made a lot of sense for CFC because the two clubs are part of BlueCo.
At the same time, however, moving from Ligue 1 to one of the Premier League’s top clubs is a very different challenge.
| Liam Rosenior | It wins | Drawings | Loss | win % |
| in Strasbourg | 31 | 15 | 17 | 49.2% |
| Chelsea | 10 | 2 | 6 | 55.6% |
Rosenior has shown promise, but this big job may have come too soon for him as he remains inexperienced.
Chelsea will no doubt be hoping he continues to develop and learn, as do many of the young players in this squad.
But we will have to see how patient the club’s fans are with this approach if it doesn’t bring success soon.
