Alexander Bublik only needed the opening week of the 2026 season to achieve tennis’ greatest honor: breaking into the top ten of the PIF ATP Rankings.

The 28-year-old sealed his future by winning the title at the Bank of China Hong Kong Tennis Open, where he defeated Lorenzo Musetti in the final. Bublik’s rise has been equal parts explosive and exciting, underscoring why he has become one of the ATP Tour’s most compelling figures.

In April last year, he was ranked No. 80, but due to a remarkable change of beliefs and beliefs, he took four ATP Tour titles throughout the season and finished 2025 at a career-high No. 11 and became one of the first in the Nitto ATP Finals.

“The only goal of this season was to reach the Top 10 and in the first week I won the title and I have entered the Top 10,” said Bublik who is the first from Kazakhstan to enter the Top 10. “If you had told me that last April I would not have believed it.

FIVE THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT BUBLIK’S RESURRECTION:
1) Early promise, delayed removal

Bublik announced his potential by winning his first ATP Tour title in 2022 and followed it up with at least one trophy in the next two seasons. However, the beginning of 2025 seemed bitter, as in February he was out of the Top 50 in the world for the first time in two years. That dip became a fuel instead of a hindrance.

2) Roland Garros is a turning point

Arriving on the 2025 clay court as World No. 62, Bublik produced the most perfect tennis of his career to reach the quarter-finals of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time. His five-set escape against Alex de Minaur and a convincing win over Jack Draper put an end to speculation about his resilience. Even a one-sided loss to Jannik Sinner provided a clear benchmark of what was needed to move forward.

3) Halle shockwave

Two weeks after winning just six games against Sinner at Roland Garros, Bublik delivered a stunning upset on the Halle grass. The Kazakhstani hit 36 winners en route to her first Lexus ATP Head2Head win over World No.

4) Clay court guarantees are guaranteed

Back-to-back titles in Gstaad and Kitzbuehel marked Bublik’s first trophies on clay. The success underscored that his unpredictable game simply transcended the most controlled circumstances. With improved endurance and scoring, Bublik proved that he can be successful in extended and shorter circuits, backing up his statement made at Roland Garros earlier this year.

5) How far can he go now?

The question surrounding Bublik now is about how much surgery he can actually do. With a secured Top 10 finish and overall talent on display, the 28-year-old has positioned himself to be a regular presence at major events.
