Alexander Isak posted Simon Jordan’s unsympathetic comments

TalkSPORT pundit Simon Jordan has found himself at the center of controversy after suggesting that “karma” may have played a role in Alexander Isak’s serious injury during Liverpool’s 2-1 away win at Tottenham Hotspur.

The comments, made in the wake of a disturbing incident on Saturday evening, drew criticism from fans and commentators who felt the speech crossed the line.

Isak was injured in surprising circumstances, injuring himself as he shot Liverpool’s lead against Spurs.

The Swedish striker was caught late by Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven when he took his shot and was forced to leave the field.

Subsequent medical tests confirmed that Isak sustained a fractured fibula, an injury that is expected to be ruled out for several months and represents a major setback at an important stage of the season.

Jordan makes a casual comment about Alexander Isak

The incident caused concern throughout the football community, given Isak’s importance to Liverpool and his reputation as one of the most dangerous attackers in the Premier League.

Early indications suggest the striker could face a lengthy rehabilitation process, and his availability for the rest of the campaign is now in serious doubt.

However, it was Jordan’s reaction to the injury that generated the most attention. Speaking on TalkSPORT, the former Crystal Palace owner appeared to link Isak’s misfortunes to off-field events earlier in his career.

Jordan spoke about the striker’s exit from Newcastle United, where it was reported that Isak wanted to leave before the 2025/26 season after informing the club that he no longer wanted to play for them.

Jordan says:

“I’m trying hard to avoid disappearing into the ghost of Jacob Marley, and I’m looking at the karma of Alexander Isak’s position in terms of not coming to Liverpool and achieving a lot. Now he might find himself out this season. I’m trying hard to avoid that version of me.

“I don’t want anyone to break their legs, but I also look at the way people behave and sometimes they think that what happens comes out. That’s a bad atmosphere, I know.”

Fans did not take Jordan’s comments well

Those comments were heavily criticized, with many arguing that linking major injuries to past transfer decisions is unfair and irresponsible.

After a serious injury to the player, these words from Jordan do not make any sense at all.

It sounds like you’re just trying to score a point over Isak by making such a claim. Sometimes, football pundits cross the line and Jordan’s comments did just that at this event.

As fans, as commentators, as commentators, we all have a responsibility and Jordan failed to acknowledge that with his comments.
