2026 Sony Open Thursday times: Round 1 groups

The 2026 Sony Open in Hawaii begins on Thursday, January 15, with the opening round at Waialae Country Club. You can find the full Sony Open tee times for Thursday’s first round at the bottom of this post.

Thursday marks the start of the new PGA Tour season, and Collin Morikawa is hoping for a return to form.

The two-time major champion had a down year in 2025 by his lofty standards, failing to win a PGA Tour event. Although his win total still stands at six, last season wasn’t all bad for Morikawa. He scored two runner-up finishes and settled for T19 in the final FedEx Cup standings.

Morikawa, who played on the 2025 US Ryder Cup team, will have plenty of familiar company at the Sony Open. Teammates JJ Spaun, Russell Henley and Ben Griffin are also in the field, as is US Ryder Cup captain and World No. 14 Keegan Bradley.

Morikawa will begin his season on Thursday at 12:43 pm ET along with Spaun and Adam Scott.

You can watch Thursday’s first round of the 2026 Sony Open from 7-10 pm ET on Golf Channel. PGA Tour Live on ESPN+ will feature a panel from 12-10 p.m
