The Gunners spent big on new players last summer, bringing in Viktor Gyokeres, Eberechi Eze, Martin Zubimendi, Noni Madueke, Christian Norgaard, Cristhian Mosquera, Piero Hincapie, and Kepa Arrizabalaga.

So it’s not too surprising to learn that Arsenal are now under pressure to balance the books with a significant sale, as reported by the Telegraph.

Arsenal’s five nominees could make big sales

A report by the Telegraph has revealed the top five players who should be sold if Arsenal are to continue their big sales, and they are as follows…

Martin Odegaard

This could be a big call, but Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard is being talked about as one. The Norwegian has not played a major role in Mikel Arteta’s side this season due to a combination of injuries and a slight loss of form and overall impact. There are still plenty of fans who might worry about letting Odegaard go, but it also makes sense that he is being considered because he might have the most value of all.

Gabriel Martinelli

A good player on his day, but Gabriel Martinelli’s name appearing on this list also has some meaning to it after another consistent campaign. The Brazil international’s puzzling form can best be summed up by the fact that he has six goals in seven Champions League games this season, but has scored just once in 24 Premier League games. Although he has looked impressive as a youngster, it would be fair to say that Martinelli has not yet reached his full potential and it may be time for Arsenal to try and bring about an upgrade.

Ben White

Perhaps not the same player after the injury problems that kept him out for most of last season, Ben White has also been reported by the Telegraph as a strong candidate to leave the Emirates Stadium this summer. Limited to just five Premier League starts this season, White is now clearly behind Jurrien Timber, and we recently reported on European clubs showing interest in the 28-year-old ahead of this summer.

Ethan Nwaneri

Currently on loan at Marseille, Ethan Nwaneri is another name on the Telegraph’s list as he has struggled for regularity this season and will have that added benefit of ‘pure profit’ in PSR’s view, having come from Arsenal’s academy. The 18-year-old still has it in him to succeed at Arsenal, but perhaps it makes sense that they would have to consider accepting big offers for him.

Myles Lewis-Skelly

Similarly, the future of Myles Lewis-Skelly also appears to be in doubt and could be another attractive auction due to PSR. Despite being one of the Premier League’s best performers last season, the England international has struggled to make the cut this season after starting well for Hincapie at left back.
