As the season continues, it is becoming clear that the Gunners simply have many weaknesses in their team that must be fixed if they want to come back stronger next season.

Arsenal’s signings last summer didn’t work out, and it’s likely we’ll see one of them move on.

OUT – Viktor Gyokeres

Despite one or two moments when it looked like he might turn it around, there’s no getting away from the fact that the signing of Viktor Gyokeres proved to be a huge mistake.

It always seemed like a gamble to sign the Sweden international after those admittedly excellent scoring numbers from Sporting Lisbon, with the Portuguese league not being a good enough marker of how he will settle in the English top flight.

Gyokeres has just eight goals in 25 Premier League games so far, and only six of those have come from open play, with six of the eight goals coming against newly promoted clubs.

Barring a dramatic turnaround between now and May, it’s hard to see any reason for Arsenal to keep hold of Gyokeres, who turns 28 in June, and will quickly lose what little resale value he has.

IN – Julian Alvarez

Arguably the best striker likely to be on the market right now is Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez, who has been linked with Arsenal by ESPN.

The Argentinian has 42 goals in 92 games for Atletico, and he has also proven himself in the Premier League, scoring 36 goals in two seasons mainly as a team player at Manchester City.

Alvarez makes perfect sense for Arsenal and is the kind of statement signing they need to show they are the real deal in every department, with their attack this season looking far from what it takes when it comes to getting over the line in the big leagues.

OUT – Leandro Trossard

Although he has made a great contribution during his Arsenal career, Leandro Trossard is still not young, so he seems to be a candidate for this summer.

The Belgian has his qualities, but it’s also hard to imagine him starting for many of Europe’s other top sides, Arsenal need a real star in that area of the pitch.

Football Insider have suggested that Trossard could leave the Emirates Stadium sometime in 2026, so while nothing is concrete yet, it seems that it would make sense to help raise the signing money to take the club to the next level.

IN – Morgan Rogers

One of the biggest rising stars in the game, Morgan Rogers is certainly the type of talent Arsenal need to make their next move.

Declan Rice’s attacking midfield, Rogers looks to be entering his prime, and there will be plenty of top clubs ready to pay big money to prize him away from Aston Villa.

Of course, if Villa qualify for the Champions League, it will be difficult for Arsenal to do the deal, but in a way, that’s why they have to go all out to do it. They tried to go deep last summer, and this year you need a minimum number of real star signings.

OUT – Riccardo Calafiori

A top player, but Arsenal probably need to rethink the future of Riccardo Calafiori after two injury-plagued seasons at the Emirates.

The Italian international is in short supply, and perhaps offloading him will give AFC the opportunity to bring in a different type of player at left back.

Arteta is currently focused on the defensive qualities of that position, and with Calafiori, like Jurrien Timber, a full-back, many Arsenal fans may feel there is room for more risk in that department with an attacking player.

IN – David Raum

The player in question is likely to be RB Leipzig’s David Raum, who has an impressive four goals and six assists in all competitions for club and country this season.

The 27-year-old German is more like a full-back than Calafiori, so he can give Arsenal new space with his passing and crossing.

It remains to be seen whether Arsenal are interested, but this is a quality player that many top clubs should be looking at before this summer.
