December 19, 2025

1) Protection from ATP
The ATP is committed to creating a safe, respectful and inclusive environment at all ATP tournaments worldwide. Safeguarding is at the core of our values and the way we protect the dignity, welfare and rights of everyone involved in professional tennis.

Protection at ATP applies to players, player support groups, staff, officials, volunteers, children, vulnerable adults and anyone participating in or attending ATP tournaments.

2) Report Your Concern:
If something is wrong, report it. Anyone can report a safety concern, including players, staff, volunteers, parents, spectators or members of the public.

You can report your concern in the following ways:

If someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first. You can then report the concern to the DSO or ATP competition.

All reports are taken seriously and treated confidentially.

3) What does ATP protection mean
Safeguarding at the ATP means taking action to prevent injuries, responding to problems and promoting a culture of safety and respect at our competitions. It is about protecting people, especially players, children and vulnerable adults, and ensuring that concerns are taken seriously and handled carefully.

Our security approach is guided by the following principles:

  • Trauma-informed care: The Prevention Program is based on trauma-informed care principles, aimed at preventing recurring traumatic experiences and restoring a sense of safety, strength, and self-confidence. This program aims to prioritize the well-being of everyone participating in ATP competitions, especially all children, vulnerable adults and anyone who has lived through trauma.
  • Shared responsibility: Protection is everyone’s responsibility. All Covered Persons are expected to uphold the principles of the Safeguards Program and work together to ensure a safe environment for professional tennis during ATP tournaments.
  • Champion safety: ATP takes defense concerns and allegations seriously, striving for prompt responses.
  • Work together: The ATP works with other organizations, both inside and outside of tennis, to improve standards of protection and best practices.

4) Roles and Responsibilities
Protection is everyone’s responsibility. Although everyone has a role to play, certain responsibilities are clearly defined.

  • Designated Security Officer (DSO):
Acts as the main point of contact to safeguard the tournament, receives concerns and works closely with the ATP to ensure appropriate action is taken.
  • ATP Director of Defense:
Oversees the ATP Safeguarding Program, assesses and investigates concerns, and ensures consistent levels of safeguarding across all tournaments.
  • Security Advisory Panel
A group of independent professionals with a background in defense or tennis to lead the ATP in its defense commitment.
  • Everyone participating in ATP tournaments:
Players, staff, officials and volunteers are expected to act respectfully, maintain proper boundaries and report concerns.
