Wirtz and Isak shine vs Tottenham

Liverpool beat Tottenham 2-1 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday evening to continue their improved form with a third win in a row.
The Reds admittedly had little to offer from Spurs, however, who were reduced to ten men in the first half after Xavi Simons’ stupid challenge on Virgil van Dijk.
Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike then scored for Liverpool to give them what should have been a comfortable lead, only for Richarlison to pull one back and make matters worse late on.
Overall, though, Liverpool’s players can be pleased with their performance in what is always a tricky away game.
Player ratings for Liverpool’s 2-1 win vs Tottenham
Alisson Becker – 7.5 – This wasn’t exactly the best Spurs team Alisson would face, but he did well to make four saves in total, even if there wasn’t much he could do about Richarlison’s late strike, which was very poor defending.
Conor Bradley – 6 – Some good moments going forward, but Conor Bradley still looks inconsistent at this level, while an injury problem meant he was substituted at half-time.
Ibrahima Konate – 7 – A solid display for the most part, and better than some of the performances he’s had this season, although he was let down a bit by getting an unnecessary yellow card.
Virgil van Dijk – 7 – Very good at the back and aerial threat from Liverpool’s set pieces, although he did knock down the clearance that allowed Richarlison to score.
Milos Kerkez – 6 – A solid if unspectacular display from the Liverpool left-back, slowly and steadily gaining confidence after a difficult start to life at Anfield.
Ryan Gravenberch – 8 – Mr. Loyalty in Liverpool’s midfield, it was also a great performance from Ryan Gravenberch as he fought for every ball and continued to play.
Curtis Jones – 6 – A solid player since arriving at the club, but he is perhaps too cautious with his passing, often opting for the safe option when he can do more to help move the team forward.
Dominik Szoboszlai – 7 – He has also been a key man for Liverpool as he continues to be one of their best performers this season, although he has understandably offered little when asked to fill in at right-back again.
Alexis Mac Allister – 6 – It’s not bad, but he can’t do much good either, lacking the kind of spark and quality he’s usually able to show with his passing and shooting.
Florian Wirtz – 8.5 – Probably his best performance in a Liverpool shirt, with a great assist for Isak’s goal. Wirtz ended up looking like a big threat in this game as he statistically became the player of the game, according to WhoScored.
The Great Ekitike – 8 – A man in good form in front of goal, Hugo Ekitike did his job again with a well taken header that made it 2-0 not long after Isak opened the scoring. A real threat up front, who is on a run of five goals in his last three Premier League games.
