Who Else Besides Nazem Kadri Could Go?

NHL Rumors: Buffalo Sabers, and Calgary Flames

Steve Kouleas: “He’s joining us now from his usual Wednesday spot, Sirius XM Insider, the NHL’s Season Four network. Dave Pagnotta is back. Dave, I see something that could happen in Dallas and Calgary that you’ve reported on before. What can you tell our listeners?”

Dave Pagnotta: “Well, really, there was work going on for the Calgary Flames this week, and it revolved around (Nazem) Kadri.

This week there were reports that the teams kicked the tires again. Ottawa, I think Bruce Garrioch had this last night (Tuesday night) that the Senators kicked the tires on MacKenzie Weegar again. That’s something they’ve been pushing in the past, and they did it again last season. And Ryan Lomberg’s name is there.

NHL rumors: Nazem Kadri, Blake Coleman, and JT Miller

Teams have inquired about Zach Whitecloud after acquiring him from Vegas in the Rasmus Andersson trade. There is a lot of activity surrounding the Calgary Flames.

And Dallas is one team that has had a lot of interest in the Flames. They were interested in Andersson earlier. They have interest in Coleman, who is a local product, and there is also interest in Nazem Kadri. So we’ll see kind of where this goes.

I don’t know if the discussion is trying to do something about the Olympic Freeze on February 4, or if this will happen after the freeze at the end of February, 12 days before the trade deadline. But it sounds like Dallas and Calgary have had those conversations, and Kadri is a very interesting place for Dallas.”

NHLRumors.com Note: The Calgary Flames have been a team that many have circled as a trader. It started last year with Nazem Kadri’s winning speech, but they held it again. Many teams are looking for Kadri, given his late record as a winner, and not only that, they know how versatile he can be in the lineup. You need him to be a second-line center; he can do that. If the team needs him to be a third-line center, he can be that.

NHL Rumors: Calgary Flames, St. Louis Blues, and Why Trade Now

But the Flames are still in control, as reported in the summer, and are waiting for an offer they can’t refuse. That offer may be close to happening, at least at the trade deadline. But Kadri is not the only piece. The teams are looking for Blake Coleman, Ryan Lomberg, Zach Whitecloud, and MacKenzie Weegar. But GM Craig Conroy is sticking to his values. Kadri is open to a trade, but Coleman would like to stay. If Conroy gets his yes, then all of these players are gone as the rebuild continues in Calgary.
