The Montreal Canadiens will finally and probably be happy to move Patrik Laine
NHL rumor mill: Nick Kypreos on Montreal Canadiens and Patrik Laine: “Montreal wants to cash out and may be willing to use assets to do so; willing to keep a good portion (even as much as 50 percent) of his deal.”
NHL Rumors: Potential Destinations by Jesper Wallstedt, and Marc-Andre Fleury

Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet: There was speculation (Friedman could not confirm) that the Los Angeles Kings tried to include Vincent Trocheck in the Panarin trade. Trocheck may choose to stay in Mpumalanga.
The LA Kings are trying to trade Warren Foegele.
The Detroit Red Wings tried to sign Trocheck as a free agent but lost out to the Rangers.
NHL Rumors: New York Rangers, Los Angeles Kings, and Toronto Maple Leafs
There have been “some” discussions between the Buffalo Sabers and Alex Tuch. Indications are that the Sabers don’t want to make their team worse, so that could mean holding on to Tuch past the trade deadline even if they don’t have an extension in place.
They saw the Sabers add a big defender.
The Nashville Predators and Jonathan Marchessault are fine with a trade idea. Marchessault, thinking of his children, is looking for some place with a small infrastructure for good hockey.
Think of the Montreal Canadiens as the Predators’ Ryan O’Reilly, but not sure if he’ll be traded. Don’t think getting Blake Coleman is possible for the Canadiens.
Trocheck and Robert Thomas lowered the market for Nazem Kadri, and to a lesser extent, Ryan O’Reilly. The Utah Mammoth entered.
The Toronto Maple Leafs want to select Bobby McMann in the first round, and he could see it as a possibility. Most of the contending teams do not have the first, however – Colorado, Dallas, Edmonton, Minnesota and Vegas. Carolina has Dallas’ but not theirs. Ottawa doesn’t have theirs either.
The Edmonton Oilers are still trying to trade Andrew Mangiapane. They are also looking for players who will be good if they play in the bout six.
NHL Rumors: Philadelphia Flyers – Matvei Michkov, Goaltending, and Pending UFAs
The San Jose Sharks have 49 contracts and are looking to create some flexibility. They only have two defenders signed this season.
