Man United could appoint Michael Carrick as permanent manager

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Michael Carrick is in the running to become the club’s next manager.
Man United’s turbulent season took another dramatic turn in January when the club parted ways with Ruben Amorim after a disappointing 14-month lead.
The decision, described by many insiders as inevitable following a long run of inconsistent performances, has left the Red Devils looking for stability once again.
United eventually turned to midfielder Michael Carrick as interim manager until the end of the campaign.
What was initially considered a temporary solution has quickly turned into something very encouraging.
Michael Carrick made an immediate impact at Man United
Carrick’s impact was immediate and visible. The results are better, the performance is sharper, and, perhaps most importantly, the mood inside the writing room has changed dramatically.
Romano revealed on his YouTube channel that “the feeling about Carrick is getting better and better” from the club’s management.
Romano explained:
“Manchester United has played seven Premier League games under Michael Carrick, winning six and drawing one.
“The mood of the team is good and the players are very happy with Carrick.
“It does not mean that anything has been decided in the summer of 2026 according to the permanent manager.
“But week by week, the feeling around Carrick is getting better and better.
“When Manchester United decided to part with Ruben Amorim and give Carrick a chance, they expected him to do well – but not at this level.
“Now, internally, there is a feeling that Carrick could have a chance to be the next manager.
“It hasn’t been decided yet, but the chance is there and he will surprise everyone at the club.”
Carrick could be the right manager for the Red Devils

Such a run, six wins and a draw in seven league games, has not only revived United’s top-four aspirations but restored confidence in fans who have grown increasingly frustrated under Amorim.
Carrick’s tactical strategies, including a more compact midfield formation and quick transitions in wide areas, have won praise from pundits across the Premier League.
Beyond the numbers, there is a sense that Carrick understands the cultural demands of Old Trafford.
Having spent more than a decade at the club as a player and later as part of the coaching staff under previous regimes, he possesses an institutional knowledge that few outsiders can match.
That familiarity seems to rub off on senior players and school graduates, many of whom have thrived under his calm leadership style.
