PING INTRODUCES RECORD-I-G440 K DRIVER – Golf News

PING’s record-setting driver MOI makes the new G440 K the company’s most accurate and forgiving model to date, while delivering faster ball speed and CG flexibility for more distance.
The G440 K driver is available for customization and pre-order at authorized PING golf stores worldwide starting today.
“We’re hearing a lot of positive comments about how the new G440 K driver is more forgiving and direct, resulting in more distance for the golfer,” said Solheim. “It’s great to hear that response, and we’re excited to put K in the hands of more golfers.”
“Our record setting combined MOI on the G440 K driver is mainly due to the new carbon crown and one called the Dual Carbonfly Wrap, which provides significant weight savings elsewhere in the club.
Among the key improvements from our previous high MOI driver, the award winning G430 MAX 10K, is a heavy adjustable rear weight that positions the CG for high ball speed and the ability to influence the flight of the ball by moving the weight in one third position.
The development of our T9S+ face structure provides higher and more consistent ball speed on the face, resulting in greater distance.”
The G440 Driver Family is Growing
The G440 K driver joins the G440 family of drivers including the MAX, SFT and LST, each custom fit and custom designed to suit a wide range of skill levels.
“IK is a great addition to the G440 drive line, offering another customization option full of new features,” said Solheim. “We encourage golfers to get a PING driver fit with one of our professionals around the world who are trained in our fitting techniques and equipped with our fitting tools.
They will analyze your launch monitor results to help you find the best G440 driver for your game. Whether it’s a new K, MAX, LST or SFT, there is a PING G440 driver for every golfer.”

Dual Carbonfly Wrap Technology
The weight savings from the carbon crown and single driver of the G440 K have also been incorporated into the design, especially in the high tungsten weight at the rear. This drives the CG lower and deeper at faster ball speeds and helps achieve the PING driver’s MOI record setting.
In addition to being four grams heavier than the G430 MAX 10K, the back weight is moved to one of three positions including pull, neutral and fade, allowing golfers to change the CG and achieve the results they want.
“The combined MOI of the G440 K driver exceeds our previous benchmark and we continue our pursuit of engineering the world’s best performing drivers,” said Solheim.
“It’s an amazing job for our engineering team to give golfers this new level of forgiveness with the benefits of weight flexibility.”
A Quick, Forgiving Face
The proven T9S+ face of the G440 K driver continues to evolve and delivers faster ball speed on long, straight drives.
The combination of the shallow face and the development of the VFT formation provides more flexibility, maintaining a constant ball speed throughout the face, especially in the high heel region.
Spinsistency, PING’s variable face curvature innovation, helps ensure consistent spin while maintaining ball speed.
“We continue to rely on our T9S+ face technology as it gives us superior performance and consistency in flexibility and ball speed retention,” said Solheim.
“We don’t sacrifice speed for forgiveness. Golfers can have both. The G440 K driver is a great example of that.
It provides exceptional ball speed, delivers strong dispersion and starts high with optimal spin. That translates to longer, straighter drives.”

Sound Design
Joining the Ti 811 body to the carbon crown and the G440 K driver sole while ensuring an exciting sound required PING’s engineering team to build a composite crown bridge and sole ribs.
This tightens the crown and sole during impact, resulting in a firmer and slightly more muted impact feel.
“With the addition of the carbon sole, we knew the sound characteristics of the G440 K driver would be different than previous models,” said Solheim. “Through finite element analysis, sound testing and player feedback, our engineers developed a lightweight bridge and isolation ribs to combat any unwanted waves. The G440 K driver has a very pleasing and confident sound.”
Advanced Presentation of the G440 K HL
The light overall weight of the G440 K HL driver is an ideal build for slower swinging golfers who do not generate enough club head speed and ball speed from standard weight clubs.
Custom engineer built 46 inches with a light back weight of 28 grams, very light shafts including PING Alta Quick 35 and 45, and easy grip, the result is a low weight of the whole system.
This allows golfers to swing faster and generate more ball speed for higher drives, long carry shots and straight tees. Available in 9, 10.5 and 12 degree lofts.
