TSN: The Florida Panthers have pending UFAs, including forward AJ Greer and defenseman Jeff Petry, who could be waived at the deadline, according to Pierre LeBrun. Kevin Weekes wondered this week if goalkeeper Sergei Bobrovsky could be sold, as he has not yet been extended. LeBrun comments:
“And you know, it’s not the time right now in the middle of the season, given his struggles, to talk to him about an extension. That will wait until the end of the year. So keep an eye on that if Florida doesn’t make a run here.”

Right fielder is the priority, as Dman Nick Jensen has struggled with offseason hip surgery. There aren’t many options yet, and his costs are high.

Calgary Flames defenseman MacKenzie Weegar likes the Senators. He has a cap hit of $6.25 million through 2030-31. The Sens also kicked the tires on Flames Zach Whitecloud.
The Senators are not alone in their pursuit of a right-handed defenseman, as the Detroit Red Wings, Boston Bruins, Buffalo Sabres, San Jose Sharks, Dallas Stars and Utah Mammoth are also believed to be looking. The Red Wings have shown interest in Weegar as well.
Sources say the Flames will want a first- or second-round pick and a best or best player for Weegar.
Other possible options include Brandon Carlo (Maple Leafs), Dougie Hamilton (Devils), Connor Murphy (Blackhawks), Justin Faulk (Blues) and Colton Parayko (Blues).
The Senators do not have a first round pick this year. A league official said the only prospects interested are defensemen Carter Yakemchuk and Logan Hensler. The Senators have no interest in trading Yaremchuk or Hensler.
