There should be some names available at the trade deadline
Dan Rosen of NHL.com: (mailbag) There are still plenty of games to be played before the trade deadline, and many teams will decide to trade. There are concerns about a quiet deadline, but the likes of Artemi Panarin, Kiefer Sherwood, Rasmus Andersson, Blake Coleman, Alex Tuch, Justin Faulk, Jordan Binnington, and Dougie Hamilton could be available.
Patrik Laine could be an expensive depth piece for the Montreal Canadiens or they could look to move him
Dan Rosen of NHL.com: (mailbag) Patrik Laine’s return to the Montreal Canadiens roster is not imminent, as he remains neutral. If he is ready to return, it is not known where he will fit in their list. He could be an expensive depth player, or make him available in a trade. He is in the final year of his $8.7 million contract. The Canadiens may not want to retain any salary, but may consider it depending on what else is included in the deal.
