Liverpool were surprised by the transfer of Yankuba Minteh

Liverpool are reportedly eyeing a surprise move for Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh despite his poor form of late.

The 21-year-old has looked like an exciting youngster on points, but has been off the ball in recent times, without a goal or assist in any of his last 14 games for Brighton.
In total, Minteh has one goal and four assists in the Premier League so far this season, but Fichajes says Liverpool are eyeing him to replace Mohamed Salah.
Although the report talks about Arne Slot getting to know the player well during his time on loan at Feyenoord, it is hard to see if there is any truth to this particular story.
Yankuba Minteh could be Liverpool’s most dangerous signing
While many players go through bad form every now and then, Minteh currently looks very dangerous to sign for a big club like Liverpool.
If the Reds are serious about losing the aging Salah this summer, they will need to ensure that whoever replaces him is ready to hit the ground running.
There may not be many players in world football who can do that, but there are many who are safer bets than Minteh.
The Gambian is still young enough to turn things around and have a great career, but he currently scores incredibly low on our Transfer Fit rating system…

8/25 represents a weak point, as he only gains points from the fact that he has shown some potential, is still young enough to improve, and plays in an area where LFC needs to strengthen.
Otherwise, this is one of the Merseyside giants to stay away from.
Some players running on Liverpool’s radar
As recently reported by Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, Liverpool have made Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise their dream target, while RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande is seen as a more reasonable option…

Olise is probably the closest thing to Salah out there in the current market, although in many ways they seem to have missed the boat for this player profile.
Last summer many right wing players changed clubs, Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford to Manchester United, Noni Madueke swapped Chelsea for Arsenal, and Newcastle signed Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest.
Antoine Semenyo could also be another decent option, but he left Bournemouth for Manchester City in January, so Liverpool will have a tough job trying to land Salah this year.
