Luis Guilherme sent an emotional farewell message after leaving West Ham

West Ham midfielder Luis Guilherme has officially ended his time in East London, completing a permanent move to Portuguese giants Sporting CP.

The 22-year-old Brazilian, who arrived at the London Stadium with high expectations for him, is leaving the Premier League after spending time in which first-team opportunities were not in sight.

The transfer marks a major change for West Ham as they look to rebuild their squad in the January window, with the club agreeing to the departure of the talented youngster to allow him to return to work in Lisbon.

Luis Guilherme sends an emotional farewell message to West Ham

After his move to Sporting was confirmed, Luis Guilherme took to Instagram to share a heartfelt message with the West Ham faithful.

Admitting that his time in England did not go according to plan, the midfielder expressed gratitude for the experience of playing in the Premier League.

Guilherme wrote on Instagram:

I came to West Ham when I was very young, I fulfilled one of my biggest dreams: to play in Europe and in the Premier League, one of the biggest leagues in the world, focusing on work. Opportunities didn’t always come the way I expected, but dedication, commitment, and focus never lacked as I continued to grow both as a player and as a man.

I wish I could be more helpful. I wish I could have done more for you, Hammers. But in football things don’t always go as we wish.

It’s hard to leave seeing the club go through a tough time, but I’ll be looking forward to better days ahead.

I want to thank everyone for this time together and for all the love I have received. Now I’m moving on to another challenge in my career, I’m taking with me everything I lived here and I’m sure that good things are ahead.

Thank you for everything.
You were once a Hammer… ⚒️❤️

With Guilherme leaving, West Ham’s focus remains firmly on Premier League survival.

Head coach Nuno Espirito Santo is reportedly under a lot of pressure amid the crisis in the league, however the West Ham board have opted to stick with their manager for now rather than make a change mid-season.

Officials are understood to be backing Nuno with a decisive January investment, aimed at lifting the club from the brink of collapse.

West Ham have already made swift moves in the market, securing two key signings.

Brazilian defender Pablo Felipe has joined for a reported £22 million to deal with the defensive threat, while the attack has been boosted by the arrival of Taty Castellanos from Lazio.

The Argentinian striker is believed to have cost around £25 million, and Nuno hopes his goals can be decisive in keeping the Hammers in the Premier League for the 2026/27 campaign.
