Man United are ‘looking’ at Al Hilal midfielder Ruben Neves

Manchester United are reportedly considering a move to bring Rúben Neves back to the Premier League, with new developments suggesting a deal could be considered at the start of this January transfer window.
According to Football Insider, influential senior agent Jorge Mendes is actively working on a possible winter move, using his long-standing links to Old Trafford as United look to strengthen their full-back options.
Neves, who currently plays for Al-Hilal in the Saudi Pro League, has been on United’s radar for several years, dating back to his impressive spell at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
His composure on the ball, exceptional range of passing and ability to dictate tempo made him one of the most respected midfielders in the Premier League during his time at Molineux, and United’s staff never completely lost sight of him.
Man United have a real interest in Ruben Neves
Former Everton CEO Keith Wyness, speaking to Football Insider, added weight to the speculation by confirming that United continue to respect the Portuguese.
Wyness revealed that United are closely monitoring Neves’ progress in Saudi Arabia and are aware that he may now be available as part of a change in Saudi football.
“Man United are definitely looking at Ruben Neves,” he told Football Insider.
“They have been looking at him for years, since he was at Wolves, they know a lot about him and they have been watching how he is doing in Saudi Arabia.
“Now, they have been informed that he might be there and his agent has contacted him.
“You have strong players at United so it’s not the only player they’ve brought in in the last few windows, and everyone knows they want a midfielder.”
United’s renewed interest comes at a time when the club is re-examining its midfield balance under Ruben Amorim.
The Portuguese midfielder has previous experience in the Premier League

While targeting youth remains a long-term priority, Neves is seen as a ready-made solution that can bring leadership, tactical discipline and experience quickly.
His familiarity with the Premier League will greatly reduce the risk of adaptation, which is a major consideration for the January signing.
However, a move to Old Trafford will not be easy. United are expected to face competition from Newcastle United and Tottenham, both of whom are monitoring Neves’ status as they look to add control and quality to the midfielder.
For Neves himself, a return to England remains an attractive prospect. Despite being a key player in Saudi Arabia, the 28-year-old has spoken of his love for English football, and a return to the Premier League will allow him to compete at Europe’s highest level again.
