NHL Injuries: Ducks, Avs, Sabres, Panthers, Wild, Habs, Devils, Leafs, and more

TSN: Anaheim Ducks forward Leo Carlsson is out three to five weeks with a left thigh injury that will require a procedure. Carlsson has been trying to play with it, and his status on Team Sweden at the Olympics is in question.

Last Friday, Carlsson performed the procedure of “Morel-LavallĂ©e lesion – a rare degloving injury in which the skin and fat are separated from the fascia tissue, leaving a space filled with fluid.

Dan Arritt: Ducks Troy Terry missed last night’s game with a groin injury.

Bill Hoppe: Buffalo Sabers forward Josh Norris is week-to-week, according to coach Lindy Ruff.

The Daily Faceoff: The Sabers released goaltender Alex Lyon from IR.

Kurt Dusterberg: Carolina Hurricanes Eric Robinson left last night’s game in the first half with a groin injury. He will be re-examined today.

Corey Masisak: Colorado Avalanche forward Valeri Nichushkin was in a car accident yesterday, suffered minor injuries, and missed last night’s game.

Amalie Benjamin: Florida Panthers forward Matthew Tkachuk is back in the lineup after missing their first 47 games of the season, following surgery to repair a torn hamstring and sports hernia back on August 22.

“I felt better as it went on. The first half was weird, I’ll say. It was weird. Nothing, nothing game-like. It was weird, but the second half felt a little better and then the third kind of felt back to normal.”

Dave McCarthy: Missing from last night’s game for the Minnesota Wild were forwards Matt Boldy, Joel Eriksson Ek and Marcus Johansson, and defensemen Jonas Brodin and Zach Bogosian.

Eric Engels: Montreal Canadiens forward Alexandre Texier missed practice yesterday, and his status for tonight is unknown. Forward Kirby Dach may step in for Texier and skate with Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield.

Jim Biringer: New Jersey Devils coach Sheldon Keefe on Luke Hughes: “He’s being tested, but he’s going to miss time. He’s not going to play the entire road trip, but he’s being tested to see what time he’ll miss.”

Mark Masters: Toronto Maple Leafs coach Craig Berube on William Nylander (groin): “I don’t know how long the timeline will take him … I don’t know exactly when he’ll be on the ice.”

TSN: Maple Leafs forward Matthew Knies was a game-time decision last night (played), after missing their morning skate.

“Obviously it’s been bothering him a lot for a long time, and it’s not getting better, except he gets time off, Christmas time and stuff,” Berube explained of Knies’ troubles. “He’s coming back, he’s feeling better. It’s an ongoing story.”

Paul Del Los Santos: Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Dylan Coghlan missed last night’s game due to illness.

Bruce Miles: Winnipeg Jets defenseman Elias Salomonsson missed last night’s game due to illness.
