Friedman: “There’s a group of teams that work hard for Panarin on and off the ice, and look up to him. And the Ducks, I think, are one. There’s an obvious connection there, Joel Quenneville.
Bukauskas: “Yes, I say one has entered, one of many, or do you think he is the one who is leading right now?”
Friedman: “I don’t want to. I don’t want to go there right now, because I don’t know Kyle. I don’t know who’s leading. I’ll be honest. Like me, I want to be open to everybody. I don’t know who’s leading.
NHL Rumors: Artemi Panarin Pulled By Program Management Awaits Trade
You know, one thing, you have a big say about it. And the other, you know, like I said, I think the Rangers tried to get, Brock Nelson, the deal was Calum Ritchie, a first-round pick, third-round pick. There was a player that went with Nelson, and Oliver Kylington went to the Islanders, too. But that’s the kind of return they’re looking for here.
I’m thinking something else here, too, and I believe it more now, I think what pan Panarin likes is to go along with the extension. I think there are groups that might rent them out.
As one of the teams I’ve heard he might be interested in as a recruit, possibly, is Dallas. And I think, you know, the thing about Dallas is their ability to do anything in the offseason probably hinges on their decision with Jason Robertson, right? And so I think that becomes the question. I think right now, Dallas, until they fix what happened long term with Robertson, we’ll see. You know, if they’re a long-term player in anything.
But Anaheim, they could, could easily make a Nelson-type deal with the Rangers. Washington. I think I can do that too. I’ve heard that Washington is opting for expansion. You know, in the blink of an eye, the Capitals after a terrific entertainment game on Saturday in Edmonton, unfortunately, they couldn’t hold it.
You know, the Capitals are one of those teams. You know, there they are, five points out of the wild card. However, teams like Philadelphia, New Jersey, Columbus, found the Islanders in third place in the Metro, where it is 59. So those Metro teams, they may have two shots this time, a wild card shot and a Metro shot.
You know, those teams that are chasing in the Atlantic, you know, Detroit and Tampa have a really good start, and Buffalo has a little bit of room, although it’s not much. Right now, you’d think those Metro teams have an advantage going into the playoffs by how many goals they have.
NHL Injuries: Ducks, Avs, Blue Jackets, Oilers, Islanders, Rangers, Flyers, Lightning and Canucks
But I think the Capitals can do it with an extension, which they probably will. You know, I had a lot of interesting reactions to my LA vision on Friday, from absolutely they should do it, to, you know, I’ll tell you this. I think the Kings are asking themselves honest questions.
…
But I think the Kings are asking themselves some very difficult questions, and one of them is, is it reasonable for them to throw away the future and the hopes? Now, I think you know if you’re free to trade Panarin, him with an extension, I think that’s different.
Although also, you know, as someone said to me, what does that extension look like? If that was the case, if it was twice $10 (million), Kyle, or twice $12 (million), I think a lot of people would jump on it. Once you start getting into four, maybe five years, that’s when some people will panic.
But, you know, my impression of the Kings was, I think they asked themselves very hard questions about who they are and where they’re going, and I believe that’s true.
I always think there are groups out there that I don’t know about. Like, people were like, can he go to Vegas? Vegas is available to everyone. Can you go to Carolina? Carolina is an excellent host. You know, a lot of people wonder about Minnesota. I’m getting very mixed messages in Minnesota for Panarin. I have some people who think, yes, but I have other people who say that it can’t happen, like it can’t happen.
