NHL Rumors: How Long Can Filip Hronek Keep His High Trade Value?

How long are the Vancouver Canucks holding on to Filip Hronek?
Sportsnet 650: Satiar Shah and Bik Nizzar discuss how long the Vancouver Canucks should hang on to defenseman Filip Hronek. If he’s looking to maximize his return, perhaps as much as two first-round picks, how long can he maintain that high value?

Shah: “And I’ve gotten big. I’m like, you know what? Like, I think you should increase the value of Filip Hronek. The question is how long do you keep this value?”
I think we all, you know, would like to see a trade early in the offseason, based on the way the Canucks have talked about Filip Hronek, his leadership, his qualities, how forward he’s been with the media and taken a big leadership role. It doesn’t look like he will be traded this offseason. He will be here at least early next year.

So my question to you is Bik, how long will you maintain this high price? And of course, the injuries, the production, the way you play, all those things are important. But if that’s the case, he’s healthy, and he’s still playing at the level he’s been playing at for at least another year or two, how long can he get, possibly two first-round picks?”
Nizzar: “Well, the production thing is actually the thing that I’m almost worried about, because the power play time has not been there for him during these seasons, right? And now, if you take a big role in that, does that help to bring down the potential production? So, like, to maintain a certain level of ease in 35 to 40 can you expect to hold points from Zeev if Zeev can participate in Buum? power play.
And I think there’s always going to be for a young player like Zeev, a few spots in your second season and beyond. So there will always be something fast. Well, we have a veteran who is very good on the power play, you can put him. So you can expect more regular power play time for Filip Hronek here going forward.
So that part, to me, shows that it’s probably going to stick around for a while. The question is, will the game as a whole still exist. Yeah, but to his credit, and, like, the overall game is like, him, as I play him, like, oh, marketable offense. It’s like he played well this season.”
Shah: “He really has them. He played at a high pairing level.”

Nizzar: “Yes, he played at the second level, and, I would even say number two…”
Shah: “Yes.”
Nizzar: “… the whole season. And even in difficult games, you still look, it’s like, you know what? That was, you’re set in a very difficult area, and maybe there’s a pass here and there, but for the most part, like the games where you’re like, ‘Oh, Filip Hronek was bad,’ they’re like a hand, not even a hand.
