NHL Rumors: More Change Heading Vancouver’s Way

Sportsnet: Elliotte Friedman on 32 Thoughts: The Podcast – NHL Trade Deadline: A Buyers’ Market episode on the Vancouver Canucks. Tyler Myers may not want to go to Detroit, but in the short term he loses some protection in a trade. The Jake DeBrusk trade request rumors have been shot down, but … The Canucks are actually willing to listen to anyone who isn’t young, or Filip Hronek.

“Vancouver. Dom’s Canucks. You know Jim Rutherford does a podcast, John Shannon’s podcast, Darren Millard. You know, the Canucks, they’ll listen to anything right now, except for their young players and Filip Hronek.

The way it has gone this year, they have seen it, they have seen it, I think there is a lot of disappointment within the organization about where they have gone in two years. And I think if they could remove people from the organization, many of them, they would. And you know, I think it’s going to be difficult. Some of those contracts make it difficult.

NHL rumors: Rasmus Ristolainen, Steven Stamkos, and Nick Foligno

The Myers thing is interesting to me, because I don’t think, when initially, when it came out, Myers found out Tuesday morning that Detroit had an offer for him. That’s what Vancouver wanted to consider. On Wednesday night when he started the game, I had a couple of people tell me that it didn’t look like he was going to accept it. I don’t know where that stopped when we were filming this, but I think what he’s doing is opening up more opportunities for Myers. Other groups may enter it. We’ll see what happens there.

But I think, something that Myers has to consider, and I think this makes him think that, his full defense is only on July 1st. And when this happens, you basically have a choice. You can make a call if you have power, or you may be at risk of losing power.

And you know, I think at this point in time, Myers has to realize that the Canucks aren’t afraid to move on from him. So I think they all work together. And I think the Canucks understand that they don’t want to rush. I understand why he doesn’t want to go far in the middle of the season because of his family situation.

But one way or another, it seems sooner or later, Myers knows Vancouver is ready to move on. So I think the effort now is to try to put him in a situation where he is comfortable.

There have been rumors that Jake DeBrusk may request a trade. That was denied to me. But, you know, I still think that if something happens that he likes, he won’t stand in your way.

Pettersson, one of the things, with all the noise that’s been out there and all the news that’s been out there this week, one of the things I wanted to ask is if anything is going on. The last words are famous, but it seems quiet around him, right there.

I don’t think the Canucks are serious about saving. It’s a long time to keep. And I think that, I think that other groups have tried to ask them if they would consider it. I don’t think it’s something they really like to do.

I have wondered about Ottawa and Vancouver, if there is anything similar there. Within a year, there are people who say, people have suggested that there might be something there. I just couldn’t figure out if it was possible.

NHL Rumors: Vancouver Canucks, and Montreal Canadiens

Bukauskas: “Hmm, maybe someone from the Travis Green era in Vancouver.

Friedman: “That’s what you all, you’re always wondering about, right? Yeah, and you know, Ottawa, I think, is looking to add. And I think the Canucks actually told people, aside from Hronek and our kids, we’re here.”
