NHL Rumors: The New Jersey Devils, and the Carolina Hurricanes

Will the New Jersey Devils re-evaluate the market for Dougie Hamilton before the deadline? Would the former team be interested?
Flames Nation: Darren Dreger to New Jersey Devils defenseman Dougie Hamilton and if not removed.
“So I checked on Dougie Hamilton this morning, and I was told there was nothing new. And I asked, ‘Okay, is there a better chance now that we’re a week out from the deadline that he doesn’t move?’ And the answer I got from an impeccable source was, ‘Well, you’re definitely not.’ which I understand is a cliche, but there is still no desire to take him out, is there?
So the teams know, yes, Tom Fitzgerald is open to discussion and listening to offers, but nothing has moved the needle yet. You know, again, we’ve been out for a week. Maybe things are changing.
NHL Rumors: More Change Heading Vancouver’s Way
A dozen different agents, mostly, told me, okay, we can see some things here. We’ve seen a few trades so far, but they feel like teams need two, three games, maybe a weekend, and maybe there’s more definition in the standings between buyers and sellers.
And maybe the sellers who get to that point go, ‘Okay, I asked for an expensive refund from player ‘X’, and I haven’t received it so I’m going to need to soften it, because I don’t want to get to Thursday night or Friday morning and have to go into a crisis. And so maybe that starts to turn around a little bit from Sunday or Monday.
Sheet with Jeff Marek: Greg Wyshynski and Jeff Marek wonder if New Jersey Devils defenseman Dougie Hamilton will be traded.
Wyshynski: “The last name I wanted to say is Dougie Hamilton. I mean, listen, Devil, the Devils’ season is in the garbage at this point. They’re trying to trade Dougie. I mean, they’ve been trying to trade Dougie. Then they couldn’t trade Dougie because Luke Hughes got hurt. Now, Luke Hughes moved before Doheugie comes back this next Saturday, Doheugie goes back.
Marek: “I would think that Tom Fitzgerald will try for sure. Do they really make it to the finish line? I don’t know. I don’t know. If you look at that, if you want, if you want, as a strong option to shoot from the point, because he still has those good, good times from the point. And Dougie Hamilton, Greg?”
Wyshynski: “Oh, come on. It’s like, that’s guaranteed, there will be lasters.”
Marek: “Are you being saved?”
Wyshynski: “I think, I think it’s like 50-50 they trade Dougie. And I wonder, what about Carolina? What about a reunion in Carolina with Dougie?”
Marek: “It’s not bad. You know how that organization feels, and the types of defenders they get, you have to be (a) good passer. And if you can think the game well, if you’re playing for the Carolina Hurricanes, you have to be able to think and think fast.”
NHL Rumors: Florida Panthers, and Sergei Bobrovsky
Wyshynski: “Yes.”
Marek: “And it’s a challenging way to play.”
Wyshynski: “Dougie is a thinker. He goes to museums. He knows that.”
Marek: “He goes to museums.”
