“Toronto, okay, so the Maple Leafs, they’re going to lose again tonight to Ottawa. And the word out of Toronto was, obviously, there’s a lot of talk about UFAs and what they can do. But the word around the Maple Leafs now is that they’re expanding the scope of what they’re thinking.
Now I don’t think it’s like (Auston) Matthews or (William) Nylander or anything like that. I don’t think we’re talking about that. But like I said, the word around them is that they’re expanding their horizons of what they might consider, and they’re talking a lot about seasoned players.
NHL Rumors: New York Rangers and Adam Fox and possible movers
When it comes to Bobby McMann, I’ve been told one can go either way. I believe that there is an extension that both sides know is possible. The fact that he is still a Maple Leaf tells me that there is nothing they can trade him for at this point in time. We’ll see where it goes in the next six days. But I am told which way one can go.
Now, one of the Maple Leafs is named Oliver Ekman-Larsson. I believe he is on the radar of the Oilers.”
…
McLean: “Morgan Rielly from Toronto.”
Friedman: “I mean, I don’t know his name specifically. He’s also got a no-hitter, but I just heard that Toronto is looking at other things.”
The Edmonton Oilers are looking forward with defensemen, but not a goaltender
Sportsnet: Elliotte Friedman Saturday Edmonton Oilers headlines focus on forward and defense, but not goaltender. They have a particular interest in Olivier Ekman-Larsson.

Friedman: “Now, one of the Maple Leafs with a term is Oliver Ekman-Larsson. I believe he’s on the Oilers’ radar.
The Oilers lost again today to San Jose in a game where they had a lot of defensive issues. From what I’ve heard, I think Edmonton is looking at two possibilities.
A defender who can play on the right side, OEL has done so before, or possibly as a center third. Especially if Ryan Nugent Hopkins stays on the wing. I think they also consider the institution.
They have to move on from (Andrew) Mangiapane. But those, I think, are the two positions that Edmonton is thinking of improving. “
NHL Rumors: Toronto Maple Leafs, Edmonton Oilers, and St. Louis Blues
Ron McLean: “Hold it, you said to me, I said, they don’t think about scoring goals?”
Friedman: “No, I don’t think so. They’ve already moved. I think they’re looking at D or 3C”
