NHL Rumors: Toronto Maple Leafs – Bobby McMann and Scott Laughton

The Toronto Maple Leafs will try to extend Bobby McMann and Scott Laughton, but if they can’t…
TSN: Chris Johnston thinks the Toronto Maple Leafs management is looking at the bigger picture and checking the market for some of their players heading into next week’s NHL trade deadline. They do not have a commercial offer yet.
“And the truth of the matter is, at this point in time, they don’t have any commitments to any of the players that would make sense for them to start selling at this point in time.
But we know a lot will happen between now and next Friday when the trade deadline happens.”
NHL rumors: Stamkos, Myers, and the Oilers
If they get any trade offer they see as good, they will make a move. Believe that Bobby McMann and Scott Laughton could be re-signed in what the Leafs view as a fair deal. If they don’t sign them, they may leave. Don’t believe they want to lose for nothing in free agency.
The Toronto Maple Leafs and Bobby McMann are talking about an extension, but they are also holding calls on him
The Daily Faceoff: The Toronto Maple Leafs and Bobby McMann are talking about a contract extension with forward Bobby McMann, but they’re also getting calls for him, according to David Pagnotta. It could take five years at about $5 million per season to do.
Irfaan Gaffar: “The Maple Leafs and their situation with Bobby McMahon.”
Pagnotta: “Yeah, obviously there’s trade interest in Bobby McMahon. He’s an unrestricted free agent, but the Toronto Maple Leafs really like him too. And they’re in contract talks right now, with him and his agent to try to see if they can come to an agreement, in terms of an extension.
It feels like that’s where the focus is right now, but it doesn’t mean they’ve shut down, you know, the opportunity for other teams to score. If someone blows them out of the water with a significant donation, that’s something they’ll seriously consider. And we’ll see kind of how that, how it goes.
I can think of something in the five year range. Five times, I would be, I would think that was done. And they extended that year to lower AAV. That’s what’s going back and forth right now.
Gaffar: “So the Leafs have to know they’re going to be able to do the job. Obviously, you look at the Leafs, you say, OK, there’s a lot of money tied up in a lot of guys. How can you expand here?’ But like I just said, the rise of Cap is one, but two, they should know something is coming down the line. Maybe that gives them the flexibility to be able to go and pull this off.
Pagnotta: “And the other thing is, you know, they have holes to fill, which they haven’t filled since last summer. And you look at the free agent pool right now, it’s shallow.
NHL rumors: Panthers, Blues, and Senators
I mean, I’m going to prioritize, personally, just me, I’m going to prioritize for him to be signed. Because to replace that level of player, you get a second guy who can put up 20 to 25 goals a season. Those are not readily available, not on the free market, and you have to trade for that. So keep your assets and try to fill other holes in other areas.”
