NHL rumors: Tyler Myers’ days in Vancouver are numbered

Update – TSN: The Canucks have a trade offer from the Detroit Wings that they love, but Tyler Myers has yet to sign it, according to Chris Johnston at Insider Trading.
“Of course I think that as a veteran player who has this non-movement clause in his contract, he is open and willing to think about where he can play, but it may or may not end up being in Detroit.
And so I think we should just say let this breathe a little and play. Maybe another team going forward is the place he likes to play.”
Myers wanted to finish his career in Vancouver, and his family is rooted in the community. He knows the Canucks are in fire sale mode, so there’s a lot on his mind. He controls where he ends up. He will take his time.
The Vancouver Canucks acquired Tyler Myers in a trade
Rick Dhaliwal: Vancouver Canucks defenseman Tyler Myers was ruled out of last night’s game due to trade related reasons.
Darren Dreger: The Detroit Red Wings are believed to be the target. The Dallas Stars have also shown some interest. Myers may take his time to see how the process unfolds.
- Darren Dreger: “Rick is right. The Canucks have a trade option they asked Myers to consider. He has protection and is taking his time to consider it. I was told it was presented two days ago. The veteran and his agent, JP Barry are still in talks.”
- Chris Johnston: “Important in this situation is the fact that Tyler Myers currently owns the entire NMC, which translates into a 12-team no-trade list this summer.

NHL Rumors: Vancouver Canucks, and Winnipeg Jets
Thomas Drance of the Athletic: Tylers Myers was scratched last night for “roster management” reasons, as the Vancouver Canucks work through a trade. He led the team on the ice in full uniform, as he usually does. It was done in part as a defense they only had six defensemen, and if someone got hurt during warmups, they would be fine.
Coach Adam Foote: “You always need to put your seventh defenseman in, in case there’s a pulled groin or a puck in the face.”
Myers would prefer not to be traded as he is focused on Vancouver. He carries a non-movement clause. It’s moving to a 12-team no-trade list this summer, so he has more control over choosing his next team now.
The Canucks approached Myers earlier this week about a trade. The Canucks have something to their liking if Myers agrees to a trade.
NHL Rumors: Will the Vancouver Canucks have a busy trade deadline?
Canucks Brock Boeser:
“This time of year is the worst. When you think about our team and you think ‘What other guys can you get good value for,’ you just think of big, veteran, right-handed defensemen, right? His cap is low. If you look at it, it’s obviously (a move) that makes sense.
“For me, I looked at it and thought, ‘Yeah, teams are going to be calling this guy left and right.’ It’s the wrong part of the business; he is a good leader in this room, and he is the oldest fellow here. If we lose him, we are very small. That will be a big adjustment.”
