Popular Pro gets emotional after PGA TOURBECH return

Few golfers know the treacherous, often damaging fairways of the PGA Tour better than Spencer Levin. The 41-year-old Golf Colk Hero has been grinding on the golf tour for more than 20 years, adoring hordes of fans there.
On Sunday, Levin faced another brutal end to his career, coming up just short of reclaiming his PGA Tour card for the first time in a decade at Q-School.
After his heartbreaking outburst on Sunday, Levin didn’t rush home in a tizzy. Instead, he faced the cameras and gave an emotional interview with the Korn Ferry Media team, during which his mature emotions spilled over.
Spencer Levin almost got his PGA Tour card back at Q-School
On the final night of the final round at last week’s PGA Tour Q-School, Levin was on the verge of an undeniable comeback.
Levin made his first tour of Korn Ferry back in 2003, winning his first PGA Tour the following year at the 2004 Open. He finally got his PGA card, making 244 starts over the next 20 years.
Despite Levin’s three-peat and one runner-up finish, he has never won a PGA Tour event. During his time on tour, he was better known for his antics and humor.
In an episode of subpar golf in 2023, keeper Colt Knost once said this about playing with levin on the tour.
“He was one of my favorites to be paired with,” Kost said. “Not just because he was going to lose an S-, but he just knew how to play golf. It wasn’t very good, but he didn’t hit nine golfers, but he didn’t score nine, but he didn’t put a score on the ScoreCard that was better than most people.”

Levin eventually lost his PGA card after the 2016-2017 season, and has only played sporadically since. His last PGA appearance came in the 2023 Farmers Insurance Open, which he missed on Monday and missed the cut.
That same year he played in the final stage of the Q-School but finished T10 to miss out on his tour card again in 2024.
In 2025, Levin used it in 22 korn Ferry events. He missed 15 cuts and finished 98 in the KFT standings, which gave him conditional KFT status for 2026.
So it was back to q school for one last attempt at improving his vision for next season. At the second round of Q-School in Dothan, Ala., Levin rallied in the final round to finish T6 and advanced to the final round in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
Levin began the week’s event strongly with back-to-back 69s, then topping the leaderboard with 33 around 33 PGA Tour card earners, Levin entered Sunday’s FinAL announcement. Suddenly, he is getting closer and closer to getting a PGA Tour Card in 2026
“I’ve been doing this for a long time,” Levin said Saturday. “I’ve seen all the situations there. The thing you learn is there are no secrets. You just have to go out tomorrow and do well.”
But returning to the PGA Tour on the inside, Levin battled back with a 71-over 71 over the final round, finishing T13, three shots short of a fifth and final PGA Tour card.
Levin on PGA Tour Card: ‘something you want too bad’
With everything he’s been through, not only in Sunday’s round but everyone else, it would be understandable if Levin left the course without speaking to anyone on Sunday evening.
But instead he chose to do a post-chief interview, and he may have gained a lot of followers in the process.

Early on, an interviewer asks Levin what “goes through his head” after missing Miss.
“I was hoping that today would be the day, but it wasn’t…” Levin replied: “That’s it, I have nothing else to say.”
Just when it seemed that the interview would end as quickly as it began, the interviewer reminded Levin of his successful Rally in the second stage of Q-School, which received a smile from the Visually Inverted Pro.
Levin commented: “Yeah, thanks for bringing that up. “That was really cool. Yes. I did. Thank you for saying that. I did.”
Levin then opened up and revealed many details about his experience in the final round.
“Today you wake up thinking it could be the day. I felt good, everything felt good last night, and I did,” Levin said. “Just me, there were some putts I needed to make that I didn’t make. And I mean I had three putts that would have made opportunities.”
But Levin also wasn’t famous for being disappointed, explaining that his strong desire to make it back on the PGA Tour made him miss him dearly.
“It just sucks because it’s something you want so badly,” Levin said.
“I was hoping that today would be the day, but it wasn’t.” 💔

It’s not all bad news, though. Levin’s strong performance at Q-School earned him full status on the Korn Ferry Tour the following year. So you’ll have another chance to cool that on a PGA Tour card. And it wouldn’t be surprising if his encouraging play this week earns him a few sponsor releases on the PGA Tour Early Wave next season. If it happens, there will be many fans willing to watch it.
And despite his destruction, that’s what Levin was trying to focus on Sunday night.
“At least I got another year of golf to play next year, so I’m looking forward to that,” he said.
