NHL Injuries: Blackhawks, Red Wings, Panthers, Kings, Devils, Senators, Blues, Lightning, Leafs, and more

Pierre LeBrun: Chicago Blackhawks forward Connor Bedard is week-to-week and will be re-evaluated in January. They look to repair the damage and not have surgery.

  • Ben Pope: Blackhawks coach Jeff Blashill on Bedard: “He wants to be back next week. That’s the way he’s taking it: he wants to be back. He’d rather I say ‘day to day.’ But…the truth is that we will not allow him to do that before the New Year.”

Robert Tiffin: Dallas Stars coach Glen Gulutzan said forward Tyler Seguin will be evaluated by doctors today for his ACL injury. Whether or not you will need surgery can be determined.

Max Bultman: Detroit Red Wings forward Patrick Kane will miss at least the next two games with a groin injury after straining against the Blackhawks.

Corey Long: Florida Panthers linebacker Gustav Forsling left last night’s game in the third quarter after dislocating his arm. He will be tested today.

Dennis Bernstein: Los Angeles Kings forward Quinton Byfield and Phillip Danault missed last night’s game due to illness.

Dan Greenspan: Los Angeles Kings goaltender Darcy Kuemper left last night’s game in the first half with an upper back injury. Kuemper was on the ice for several minutes after colliding with Stars forward Mikko Rantanen.

“I saw a player go into the blue paint and meet our goalie. That’s what I saw,” said Los Angeles coach Jim Hiller, who was unaware of Kuemper’s condition.

Mollie Walker: New York Rangers striker, Matt Rempe, said he broke his thumb and needed surgery. He said it was broken in “too many places” and added, “I just came to the penalty box, we are fighting each other well.

Bruce Garrioch: Ottawa Senators defenseman Thomas Chabot is back skating, according to coach Travis Green. Forward Shane Pinto has yet to skate, and is unlikely to return before the Christmas break. Forward Lars Eller will be out “for a long time”.

Sheng Peng: San Jose Sharks forwards Will Smith and Philipp Kurashev have been placed on IR. No timelines were given for either.

Jeremy Rutherford: Strikers of St. Louis Blues Jordan Kyrou (lower) and Nick Bjugstad (upper body) are still not back on the ice.

Jimmy Snuggerud (left wrist surgery, four more weeks)

Nick Bjugstad (upper body, sidelined for next three games)

Eduardo A. Encina: Tampa Bay Lightning coach Jon Cooper did not have an update on forward Brandon Hagel, who left the game early after a hit on Panthers defenseman Seth Jones.

Benjamin Pierce: Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Ryan McDonagh is day-to-day. They hope goalkeeper Andrei Vasilevskiy can return before Christmas.

NHL Rumors: Montreal Canadiens, and Minnesota Wild

David Alter: Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Chris Tanev wore a custom jersey yesterday.

Terry Koshan: Maple Leafs coach Craig Berube on Tanev: “Start practicing with contact with him. We’re going to need more and see where he’s at. He’s not playing tomorrow.”

Berube asked if Tanev can play before Christmas? “That’s a good question. You have to see how he continues to improve. It would be great. We’ll see.”

Luke Fox: Maple Leafs coach Berube said goaltender Joseph Woll is likely to play tonight.

SinBin.Vegas: Vegas Golden Knights coach Bruce Cassidy said goalie Adin Hill and forward William Karlsson are week-to-week. Defensive end Jeremy Lauzon practiced yesterday, but Cassidy did not commit to Lauzon’s fitness for Wednesday’s game.
