Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner remains hopeful that club captain Marc Guéhi will stay at Selhurst Park until the end of the season, as interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs continues to grow.
The Englishman has been tipped to leave south London, but Glasner has made it clear that Palace’s priority is stability and ambition on the pitch rather than a short-term return.
Guéhi’s future has been under constant speculation since the summer transfer window, when a proposed move to Liverpool fell through in the final stages.
Despite late negotiations, Palace have retained their captain, a decision which underlined how much the club know the 25-year-old defender.
With Guéhi’s contract set to expire next year, many expected Palace to cash in last summer or in the upcoming January window.
Liverpool and Man United are interested in Marc Guéhi
Liverpool remain among the clubs monitoring the situation, eyeing Guéhi as a long-term solution in defence.
Manchester City have also been in talks, with Pep Guardiola reportedly identifying Guéhi as a top defensive target in 2026 as City look to revamp their backline with players who are comfortable with possession and intelligent.
Even Man United, looking to add defensive strength to their squad, have been linked with Guéhi.
Despite growing foreign interest, Glasner has publicly stated his belief that Guéhi will not leave in the middle of the season.
“I think Marc will stay until the end of the season,” said the Austrian manager, reinforcing the Palace’s position at a time when speculation is at an all-time high, as reported by The Standard.
From a purely financial perspective, the January sale would make sense for the Palace. Selling Guéhi in the winter would allow the club to recoup a hefty sum rather than risk losing him on a free transfer if his contract expires in the summer.
However, Glasner’s comments suggest that Palace are willing to prioritize performance over profit.
Maintaining Guéhi is seen internally as an important factor in maintaining momentum. As a captain, he is not only a defensive leader but also an important figure in the dressing room.
His presence was the cornerstone of the Palace organisation, calmness in management, and total consistency under Glasner.
Crystal Palace have no desire to sell Guéhi in January

Sources at the club indicate that a mid-season squad shake-up could hamper their ambitions in the Premier League and domestic cup competitions.
While this situation may frustrate the likes of Liverpool and Man City, it highlights a clear change in Palace’s approach.
Rather than operating as a sales team only, the Eagles are showing their desire to compete and improve, even if that means sacrificing potential capital gains.
As the season progresses, Guéhi’s future will remain a talking point.
But for now, Crystal Palace appear united in their belief that keeping their captain until the final whistle of the campaign is the right move.
