The Buffalo Sabers and the New York Rangers

What’s Up with Alex Tuch and Artemi Panarin?

Dave Pagnotta of The Fourth Period joined Sirius XM NHL Network on Tuesday with Steve Kouleas and Andrew Raycroft. There, he was asked about the situations with Alex Tuch in Buffalo and Artemi Panarin in New York with the Rangers.

Writing for NHLRumors.com

Steve Kouleas: “Does the Sabers run affect what you feel or know, or what with Alex Tuch and the Rangers are already 41 games and under 90 points, which means the (Artemi) Panarin watch will continue with two interesting titles going forward?”

NHL Rumors: Will Term Be A Story For New York Rangers And Artemi Panarin?

Dave Pagnotta: “Oh, sure. And there are a lot of teams that want to know what the Sabers and Rangers are going to do with both of those guys. First with Buffalo. When Jarmo Kekäläinen came in, my understanding of how it was explained, it has been, to me that they had some kind of introductory conversation between the camp of Ledrmotle Ledrmo Brian Kekäläinen.

And the understanding ended in January, I am not sure, later this week, or I suspect, I hope, they will give a little time, because there is nothing urgent at the moment, but throughout January, they will have negotiations and effectively contract negotiations, to see where they are.

And I don’t get the idea that his (Tuch) position has changed. If they go full time, I believe you are looking at about $10 million per. Does that go up a bit in terms of plot? Can he get more than that on the open market, given the fact that it’s going to be small, maybe, and all those things are going to come in?

Both of those talks will take place this coming month, and they will have a very positive outlook. Jarmo Kekäläinen will have a good idea that Alex Tuch’s future will be in Buffalo, or they will have to, even if they keep things moving, they will have to look elsewhere, understand that he cannot stick, or that he is ready to test the market.

In New York City. They are the same kind of positions, the same conditions, to some extent. Panarin won’t want a guarantee. He’ll be happy to take one, but I don’t think he’ll sign an eight-year extension with the Rangers.

Of course he likes being in New York, but with the way the Rangers are coming in with a team that’s undercover and looking to see if they can make a big swing at some point, their position with Panarin might be a little different and in the short term, something like three years, I suspect they’ll entertain the chance to keep him.

Not Another Hybrid Retool Coming to the Vancouver Canucks

But at the same time, if they go too far back, there will be many teams who would like to get their hands on a guy like that to help them run for the trophy. And Chris Drury and company might realize that, hey, this might be too good an opportunity to pass up in terms of getting a vocal comeback from a guy like Artemis.
