Tottenham are expected to leave Fabio Paratici as sporting director set for a move to Fiorentina

Tottenham are reportedly eyeing another major change off the pitch, with sporting director Fabio Paratici set to leave the club for the second time in as many months.
According to a report by The Athletic, the 53-year-old Italian player will join the Serie A team, Fiorentina in early February to start football matches, giving his reasons for this sudden move.
Paratici will not go quickly; he is expected to remain in his place with Johan Lange to guide Tottenham in the remainder of the winter transfer window.
The window closes with English clubs on Monday, February 2, after which Paratici will complete a move to Florence.
Despite the upcoming exit, Paratici is still working on forming the team. He played a major role in planning what is expected to be Spurs’ first arrival this month: the signing of Brazilian full-back Souza from Santos.
A high-profile youth fee has reportedly been agreed, a deal that marks Paratici’s extensive scouting network in South America.
However, the brevity of his second term in office surprised many. Having returned to North London in October 2025 after his international ban expired, the report suggests he is returning to his home country for ‘personal reasons’.
The opportunity to lead Fiorentina offers a prestigious role closer to home, which seems to have tipped the scale for the Italian director.
Fabio Paratici’s two tenures at Tottenham and his significant contributions to the club
Paratici’s relationship with Tottenham has been tumultuous but undeniably influential.
His first position began in June 2021 as Managing Director of Football, where he was tasked with modernizing the club’s recruitment.
This period was cut short in April 2023 when he was forced to resign following a 30-month international ban linked to financial irregularities during his time at Juventus.
Despite the controversy, his fingerprints remain all over the current Tottenham starting XI.
During his first spell, he was responsible for recruiting key stars such as Cristian Romero, Dejan Kulusevski, and Rodrigo Bentancur, players who became the key to the team.
| The player | Position | Signed From | Almost. Money |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cristian Romero | Centre-back | Atalanta | £42m |
| Dejan Kulusevski | Winger | Juventus | £30m |
| Rodrigo Bentancur | Midfielder | Juventus | £16m |
| Destiny Udogie | Left back | Udinese | £15m |
| Yves Bissouma | Midfielder | Brighton | £25m |
| Pedro Porro | Right back | Sports CP | £39m |
| Guglielmo Vicario | He has a goalkeeper | In Poli | £17m |
| James Maddison | Midfielder | Leicester City | £40m |
| Micky van de Ven | Centre-back | Wolfsburg | £34m |
| Brennan Johnson | Forward | Nottingham Forest | £47.5m |
| Manor Solomon | Winger | Free transfer | It’s free |
He also ensured the signing of Destiny Udogie and Pape Matar Sarr, identifying their talent early and securing them before their prices increased.
During his ban, he continued to work informally as a consultant to Daniel Levy and played a role in helping Spurs sign several players including Micky van de Ven, Brennan Jonson and Vicario among others.
His return in late 2025 was seen as a move to stabilize the club’s employment around Lange, but it looks as if his second chapter at Spurs will be anything but.
