Trent Alexander-Arnold has been linked with a shock return to the Premier League

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s long-awaited dream move to the Santiago Bernabéu has not followed the script since his arrival in the Spanish capital.

After joining Los Blancos as a free agent in a controversial move, and burning bridges with Liverpool fans in doing so, Trent Alexander-Arnold was expected to inherit the right-back throne.

However, a difficult start in Spain has sparked rumors of a quick and dramatic return to English football.

Trent Alexander-Arnold has been linked with top Premier League clubs

According to a report from Spanish outlet Defensa Central, several Premier League heavyweights are keeping a close eye on Alexander-Arnold’s situation at Real Madrid.

Manchester City, Manchester United and Newcastle United are all said to be aware of the move, with the report claiming that the trio would be willing to pay €40m to bring the defender back to English football in the summer transfer window.

From a financial point of view and only a financial point of view, such a move would be seen as part of a good business for Real Madrid.

After signing the 27-year-old for a small fee a few months ago, the sale of 40 million euros will be registered as a pure profit.

The report suggests that English clubs are testing the waters, wanting to find out whether Madrid’s patience or the player’s resolve may have waned following his slow start.

Real Madrid have no intention of selling Trent

Despite speculation and clear financial incentives, Real Madrid is not considering selling at the moment.

Defensa Central states unequivocally that Madrid’s management remain fully committed to Alexander-Arnold and have no plans to listen to offers. The important thing is that this player is also said to be determined to succeed in Spain.

The report insists that Alexander-Arnold “doesn’t want to leave”, seeing his struggles as part of an adjustment period after changing leagues, countries and tactical plans.

There remains a strong belief within the club that his quality will shine through, with sources commenting that “in Madrid, everyone trusts him”.

Injuries and form have hampered Alexander-Arnold’s Madrid start

The main driver behind the exit rumors has been Alexander-Arnold’s inability to build momentum on the pitch.

His first months in La Liga were marred by a series of injury problems, limiting his availability and preventing him from putting together the consistent run of games needed to establish himself in Spanish football.

This stopping pattern has definitely had an impact on his form. Without rhythm or consistency, Alexander-Arnold has struggled to replicate the influence and control that defined his best years at Liverpool.

Real Madrid fans: There is support, but patience is often thin

While the club’s support remains strong, the Santiago Bernabéu is an unforgiving place.

Real Madrid supporters are famously patient, and while Alexander-Arnold continues to garner support, expectations are sky high. Once his injury problems are resolved, he will be expected to deliver top-class performances worthy of a Galáctico signing.

At Real Madrid, reputation can buy time but only performance guarantees survival.
